Pinkie Master’s and beyond

Mainly the cheap drinks and overall „anybody’s welcome“ attitude.

Using all of these as prerequisites, we ranked the Hostess City’s top five dive bars. Got a problem with our picks? Order us a tall boy and we’ll hear you out maybe.

5. The Warehouse

Literally a hole in the wall, The Warehouse opened in 1992 after being used as storage space for River Street Sweets candy.

„The family that owned it started selling draught beer out of the front of the door on St. Patty’s Day,“ says Mike Vaudrin, general manager. „They had some beer left over, so they opened the next weekend, and the next weekend and here we are 21 years later.“

The cavernous River Street bar still claims to sell the coldest beer in town but also has a large menu, including burgers marinated in SweetWater beer, and live music six days a week.

If you like your drinks with a side of eccentricity, Chuck’s Bar on the west side of River Street is the place to go, and has been for more than 15 years.

They have karaoke on the weekends, numerous theme nights throughout the year, and a weekly Monday ritual of watching „RuPaul’s Drag Race“ on TV. and has some of the cheapest beer in town.

Adding to the drama, Freeman says, a few celebrities have been known to frequent the bar. „Miss Jay (from ‘America’s Next Top Model’) has been here a few times,“ she says. Monday Thursday, with $3 Jagerbombs, $1 PBR draughts, $2 Miller Light draughts and two for one wells

3. Long Branch

Chances are you aren’t going to find Long Branch unless you’re looking for it.

Off the beaten bar path on Skidaway Road, Long Branch is an old postal service station turned bar, which means there’s lots of space. Space enough for pool, darts and poker leagues, karaoke nights, a DJ on Friday nights, a full kitchen and more.

Owner Joey Ruiz frequented the 15 year old bar long cheap jerseys before taking it over seven months ago, says his top priority was to keep the same grungy „neighborhood bar that makes everyone feel welcome.“ One thing he did change, though, was the menu. The Rail Pub

The rusted plaque on the heavy wooden door of The Rail reads „once a very popular bordello, now a house of leisure, The Rail Pub is the oldest pub on Congress Street.“

Still dedicated to its pleasure giving ways, the fun now comes in the form of $5 40 ounce beers, huge celebrations for all the festive holidays, wild karaoke (upstairs) and other forms of debauchery.

Each day, The Rail has different tempting specials like all day happy hour, buy one and get the next for $1 (Mondays) and Free Fried Chicken Friday, making it a staple of the downtown bar scene. Oh, and don’t forget the peanuts.

Best value drink: $5 pitchers and karaoke, Wednesday Thursday
